Anagram examples
A set of anagram examples, from single-word classics like listen and silent to richer rearrangements, each one verified against a real dictionary.
Every set below was computed from the wordlist this site actually ships, so each one is a genuine, checkable anagram rather than a repeated example.
What makes an anagram set interesting is how many real words share one set of letters. Two words trading places is common. Three is notable. Four or more - like the classic listen, silent, enlist, tinsel - is rare enough that the same handful of examples circulate endlessly, which is why the sets below were computed fresh from the dictionary this site ships rather than copied from another list.
Longer sets are rarer for a simple structural reason: as a word grows, the number of possible letter arrangements explodes, but the number of real words does not. Six-letter sets with four members exist; twelve-letter sets with four members essentially do not. That imbalance is why anagram puzzles cluster around short and medium words.
Every group below is sorted with the richest sets first, and each word links to its own page showing that word alone. If you are looking for anagrams of a specific word rather than browsing, the solver on the home page answers directly.
